National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach

I am Nicole Gleason, a graphic designer turned Functional Nutrition Counselor and Health Coach. I made the decision in early 2019 to leave my first profession to pursue this new and exciting career. After thoughtfully contemplating my purpose in life (yes, at 37) I felt like God was leading me into a field where I could help people. As a mom of a son with two auto immune diseases (Vitiligo and Type 1 Diabetes) health and wellness seemed like a natural direction for me. I’ve spent many years looking into what we put into our bodies and how our choices/lifestyle affect his conditions. I’ve battled Candida and sugar addiction which has led to my own long story of personal healing. Cooking has always been something I love to do. I am a self-proclaimed foodie and making tasty alternatives to the standard American diet has been a growing passion of mine. I aspire to cook delicious, healthy meals that are nourishing and anti-inflammatory.

Professionally, I have been certified through the Functional Nutrition Alliance (FxNA), and the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) in collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). Additionally, I am Nationally Board Certified as a Health & Wellness Coach through NB-HWC. The organization that certifies health coaches is backed by the same one that licenses medical doctors in the United States: the National Board of Medical Examiners (NMBE) and comes with the highest regard for health coaching.

There is a special place in my heart for the health of all children so I helped co-create an after school Cooking Club at our local elementary which partners with the Garden Club to bring farm to table skills and education. I am also a board member of Camp HiLo, a summer camp for those living with Type 1 Diabetes. I have been a member of the Wellness Committee of our local school district, advocating for healthy alternatives regarding celebrations and classroom policies.

My favorite things include perfectly ripe Ataulfo mangos, garden fresh thyme and iced americanos. I get a little (too) excited when the Williams-Sonoma catalog arrives, love gardening, and spending time with my crew - riding bikes or going on hikes in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where I live with my sweet little family of five. My top strengths are Spirituality, Love, Gratitude, Honesty and Perseverance.
